Discovery - student volunteering SwanseaDiscovery - student volunteering Swansea

Project Manager (Interaxions scheme)

£16,380 p/a (pro rata) fixed term contract
25 hours per week
8 weeks holiday per annum

We are looking for an organised and person-centred project manager who will be responsible for managing our Interaxions scheme. The scheme provides personal care support to disabled students at Swansea University through the use of full-time residential volunteers during University term times.

This post is an excellent opportunity for somebody wanting to develop their skills in management or in social care skills. It is also an opportunity for somebody who may already be at a senior level to take ownership of a domiciliary care scheme.

Discovery manages the scheme ensuring that the needs and independence of the disabled student are of paramount importance. It also ensures that the volunteers are well trained and supported so that it is a valuable experience for them too. The scheme works in such a way that the volunteers move to campus for an academic year and have their expenses and accommodation covered.

As the scheme provides domiciliary care to students it is registered under Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW). This means the project manager would be required to be the registered manager for the scheme with CSSIW.

The Interaxions scheme is just one of the many projects that Discovery runs. The
project manager would also be expected to assist in the general running of the charity,
working within a small staff team.
